The importance of maintaining the HVAC Clean Air Filter
No CommentsThe importance of keeping the air filter clean HVAC
Richard Ashworth
Before discussing the different types of filters, air conditioning and heating, and what's best for you, it is necessary to stress how important it is to keep the air conditioning and heating filters clean. The airflow is very important for the efficiency of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system of filters and play a key role in maintaining adequate airflow. If your AC system or your heating system in both HVAC systems need adequate amounts of airflow used throughout the system. Dirty filters restrict air flow resulting in increased energy and repair costs for you. Filter Categories
There is a different definition, categories and ratings for HVAC filtering media. High Performance HVAC will make every effort to have this confusion and help you better understand these different categories and grades so you can choose for you. First, HVAC filters are rated by a value of Merv. MERV: Minimum efficiency and value of information is a method developed by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) to test the effectiveness of HVAC air filters. The higher the MERV number the higher the efficiency of HVAC furnace filters to block certain particles and compounds. There are three different types of HVAC air filters. These are: Mechanical Air Filters – This is the typical off-the-shelf and pull HVAC filter. This filter collects particles in its filter medium. After collecting the particles so simply remove it, throw it away and replaced. Note that some media are washable mechanical filter. HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air-filter) are also in this category. There are three sub-categories for the mechanical air filters. These are:
A1 and A2 – these are standard filters 1 cm thick. These are typically rated MERV 1 to MERV 4.
Filter Media B are from 2 to 4 inches thick. These filters typically range from MERV 1 to MERV 12.
C filter media are the HEPA filters. MERV ratings for these filters exceed MERV 13 and are the most expensive. Electronic Air Cleaners – The electronic air cleaner can not qualify for a MERV rating because its efficiency can change depending on how you clean. It 'important that electronic air cleaners are cleaned every two years (more often in dusty environments) for best performance. Moreover, they work best when used together with mechanical means of filtering. Uptake phase gas – uses carbon to absorb odors and gases from the air flow. This medium is not very effective in removing particles and is mainly used in laboratories and industrial environments.
It 'important to understand that the best mechanical filter is to filter the air faster load up (or become clogged with particles). This can affect the performance of your computer and the frequency of updates. Unless your house is free of dust particles and do not believe that the filter for three months, despite the claims manufacturers of filters. It is also essential that the filter has the correct form, with no air leaks around the frame that holds the filter.
Now that you understand the filters, how to work to remove particles from the air, and the various types and classifications for the filter, you should take steps to establish a plan to change the filter routine. It is recommended that filters be checked at least every 30 days for the overloading of particulates. If the filter is too loaded into a thirty-check days, then you need to shorten the period of 3 weeks or relax that schedule, if not loaded. Some modern digital thermostats come with a filter function, which reminds flash based on number of days or run-time fan. These thermostats help you remember to change or control the filter at regular intervals.
Finally, remember that filters are necessary not only to maintain the particles in the air inside the house, but also to protect your computer. If you do not have a filter in the system or somewhere there is a filter that is too clogged the HVAC equipment will fail and you lose your HVAC system until corrective action is taken. Establish a timetable and stick to it to maintain its clean air and protected computers.Related Posts...
